POWER SCHOOL DISTRICT

Mrs. Boetticher's Math, Science, & History
Beginning of the Year

July 22, 2023

Welcome to my class!

This year will be filled with many new experiences. We will spend the year preparing to successfully navigate middle school/high school, which includes increasing organizational skills and taking ownership for managing schoolwork.

Expectations

My expectation for the class revolves around one main theme that includes six areas:

Show respect for yourself and others.

1. Try your best in all that you do.

2. Be prepared and on time.

3. Work when you’re expected to.

4. Listen and follow directions promptly.

5. Turn in assignments on time.

6. Keep your body & other items to yourself.

Grading/Homework Policies

The grading scale that is used in my classroom is the standard scale that is used at Power Schools.

A  95-100     B- 80-83     D+ 67-69

A- 90-94       C+ 77-79    D 64-66

B+  87-89     C 74-76      D- 60-63

B    84-86     C- 70-73     F below 60

*Please be aware that all students are expected to turn in assignments on or before the expected due date, which is usually the school day after the assignment is given. This will need to be done at the beginning of the class period. Students with missing or failing assignments may miss out on privileges or be required to stay after school to correct or complete unfinished work. This is done in order to attempt to master the information before testing. Assignments from the first half of a quarter will not be accepted beyond the midterm date. Late assignments from the second half of the quarter will not be accepted beyond the end of the quarter date.

Late assignments: 50% off      Missing assignments: 0% credit

The grades in each subject are weighted in categories as follows. Math: 50% tests, 50% assignments      Science: 40% tests, 60% assignments & labs

School Website

I try to make information updates as uncomplicated as possible by utilizing the school's website: www.power.k12.mt.us. From the website, you can access assignments through a link to a document, grades on Infinite Campus, the school calendar, and class information all in one place. Make sure to use this information when absent from school to stay up on assignments. I usually update grades in Infinite Campus on a daily basis as assignments are turned in. Assignments that are not turned in will be flagged as missing or late with the appropriate grade. Occasionally I will  update my teacher page on the school's website with notices and events so please check periodically in order to stay up-to-date on what is going on in the class.

Contact

Much of the general contact made to families will be through the school website. However, occasionally I will send group text messages to parents that are of greater importance or urgency. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to get ahold of me at the school at 463-2251 ext. 220 or email me at brendab@power.k12.mt.us.

I look forward to learning with all of you throughout the school year.
