I was born in Great Falls, Montana and was raised on the family farm, North of Carter, near the Apple school. I lived there for 2 years; then we moved to Carter, where I went to Carter Elementery School through fourth grade at which time I bused to Fort Benton Elementary School and ended up graduating from Fort Benton High School. I participated in football, basketball, track and baseball. I had a lot of great experiences with athletics and education. After graduating high school, Northern Montana College and Western Montana College were interested in having me participate in football. Northern did not have a program established; however were planning to start a program. Northern was close to my residence and the family farm, so I chose to attend Northern.
I joined Northern my first year and enrolled in general studies with the goal to enter the agriculture field or education field. As it turned out the family farm was sold my 2nd year of college, so at this point I enrolled in education. I really wanted to work with students and student athletes, so education became my major. As far as playing football in college, Northern did not have the funds to establish football until later, so I focused on a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education with my major being Physical Ed./Health and minors in History/Traffic Ed. I later earned another minor in Industrial Arts from Montana State university.
I started teaching in Power in 1995 and became an assistant coach in track that year and foorball the next year. I have been teaching and coaching in Power since that time. The staff, administration, community, families, and students have been great. What a great place to teach and coach. I have so many great memories from teaching and coaching, as well as Drivers Ed. (I may write a book someday about Driver Ed. - Mr. Laubach's Memoirs and Scary Moments). Power is a great place to teach and coach.
